And my day has been meh.
I woke up with a back ache (have NO idea how I got it) that makes it painful to stand up straight. I haven't been able to take anything that REALLY helps and I don't have a doctor in this town yet. I have no idea how long that is gonna take to set up and I seriously don't feel like navigating the long and winding road all the way to Jasper just to see Dr. Aicher.
Ontop of that, work was sucky. I was the only one in the library and this Saturday is book shifting day so I was picking up books, some really thick, and moving/sliding them. Not helpful to the back. And then the retarded IT guy came in and looked at our physics books and left those in shambles. If I'd felt like it I would've bitched him out.
Then, when I got back to my room, I was trying to work on my catholic extremeists research paper and Laura was SCREAMING at her bf on the phone about something that happened at someplace they went last night. I swear the window panes were shaking. So I told her to stop screaming before someone reported her and she was all "this is my room too blah blah I can talk on my phone blah blah". She did shut up but geezus it took forever.
Now I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have a migraine tomorrow.

Mahj and I watched 'Martian Child' last night, I have sucessfully converted her to Cusackness.
In the last 4 days we have watched:
Martian Child 2x (disney-grate!)
Serendipity 2x (Mahj likes the 'I don't care how clean her house is' linecuz her house is always teh pits)
Must Love Dogs 1x ('everyone is having sex tonight except us')
Say Anything 1x ('you used to be warped and twisted and hilarious--that's a compliment!)

High Fidelity 1x (Sex is a hobbie of mine. Its the ultimate sport).
And we are on the look out for 'Grace is Gone', I saw it in theaters during the summer but I can't find anything about it being out for rental/buying.

I know I've been AWOL from LJ for an unprecidented 5 days now.
Yeah, whoa.
My block is undergoing electrical rewiring and, typical to Jasper, they decided to NOT tell anyone here that they were going to be playing with our powerz for a couple of weeks. The electrical system, ground wires and power poles, were apparently affected by the bad ass thunderstorms (that produced evol tornados) several days ago.
So, that's where I've been and where, though hoping against it, I'll be if I disappear off of the face of the internets.

I've read about this and heard about this from my flist until I'm tired of it.
YES, Obama made a speech on race. It was the best speech I have ever heard from him and, for the first time, he showed what he really is. He could have done the politically smart move and stayed away from this touchy subject; but he didn't do it by the political handbook--he did it the right way.
I'll post the speech as soon as I can find it on youtube.
This, I think, was long overdue since whether he can 'walk between worlds' and be this unifer that he is, for people of all colors, he still can't change the fact that racism is alive and well in this country--and that, yes, he is indeed black.

So I gave my speech yesterday in English class on the biotechnology company Genentech. I did well and the things I'd put in the speech for humor actually made people laugh, which was my biggest fear, and the only timeI noticedthat I messed up and didn't correct myself was when I said 'g boat' instead of 'genome'. LOL. Mr. Brooks was the only one who vividly looked confused.
Get my grade back today. eek.
Another girl in my class, who did hers on Coca Cola, said that Coca Cola was 'god' instead of 'good'. We all laughed but she didn't seem to notice what was funny. Another guy kicked the blinds on the window behind him and someone else was REALLY graphic about how chicken plants kill chickens. *shudders*
SO, I think I did okay. Not super great and not nightmarishly bad either.
NOW I've got class and then its home to try and finish off my online class and write some Josh fic.

“There was this huge thunderstorm earlier and, see, Jase had gone with me to my Obama group with me earlier to help me carry boxes and, on the way back (it was barely raining when we left) but on the way back it just started coming down like...I don't fucking know what.
And, all of the sudden, I see something out of the corner of my eye and in the field there is this dark cloud coming down and I'm like 'OMFG TORNADOoooo!' and I start screaming and I'm grabbing onto Jason's arm and I'm going AHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhd he's like "let go of me I can't drive!" we can't see. I'm like "We're gonna run into a tornado. Jase we're gonna drive fucking into it!"
And so there were a lot of tornados in Georgia today...North Georgia...and there was even one in Atlanta that really messed up the Georgia Dome and part of the hotel I'm staying at in April.

Three freakin more people in my Obama group left today.
One e-mail read:
I can't see myself being part of the reason that he becomes President and favors blacks over us whites.
The other e-mail was:
Obama is a muslim supporter and we're supposed to be against Muslims.
WTF!!!
And the phone call/message was:
Obama has no experience and he is black and doesn't care about whites.
All of these steeming from Ferrero's comments and the whole shit crap that Hillary has stewing.

Last night, at midnight, Jase and I went to see 'The other Boelyn Girl' (as part of our celebrating dinner/movie thing) and it was okay. Not THAT bad and, well, not THAT good either. I fell asleep about halfway through and Jase woke me up when it went off. There were pretty costumes and, well, Eric Bana. Yep, still a babe.
